About Dascyllus:

Dascyllus are South London based producers and DJs Tim Nugent and Tom Belton. A chance encounter in a Surbiton pub was eventually followed by a first studio session from which emerged a deep, progressive breakbeat track with plenty of nuskool leanings, 'Odessa Keys'. This found its way in to the hands of Hybrid with another track, 'Floating Point', and the two were soon being dropped in Hybrid's sets everywhere from Glastonbury to the Glade festival.

With Annie Nightingale providing support on her Radio 1 show, it wasn't long before Dascyllus were picked up by UK label Sinister Recordings.

Their first vinyl release 'Helical Scan', backed with 'Spectrometer' is due in early September 2006, and has already received support from the likes of the Plump DJs, Meat Katie and Elite Force, as well as radio support on Tayo's Kiss 100 show.

Winter 2008 Update:

We've just had 'Tokamak' signed to Glack Audio. Expect it to be out sometime in December 2009. Here's a clip:

No Flash!   Tokamak
Chris Healings of Hybrid said this about it:

"She's a fuckin beauty mate... Love it, especially like the GRM action in there.. Gonna be hammering it mate. I'll definitely play it in Fabric".

That's what we like to hear!

Summer 2007 Update:

We've finished another track, this one's called 'Bebox'. Here's a clip:

Tim has done a new DJ mix for Brighton based radio station Brap FM which you can get here. It features our own track 'Tokamak'.

Spring 2007 Update:

We've signed up with Inaspace records to release some of our older tunes via then usual digital download sites. Inaspace Records was set up by DJ / Producer 'Dobbs' as a vehicle for melodic electronic music. Dobbs comes from a background in the Progressive house + Breaks scenes, but the label will not be limited to these styles. A big thanks to Rob for making this happen. Acropolis, Odessa Keys and Floating Point make up the Acropolis EP. Check it out at these sites:

Some press stuff:

Elite Force - 'Had the pleasure of playing Helical Scan for a while now, and it's a proper slab of heads down filth that should appeal to everyone from the k-hole kids to the progsters. Exciting debut for sure.'

Disposable DJs - 'Intelligent production and tasteful sounds make this package a sure fire winner in the prog/breaks arena. Plenty of energy to keep the dancefloor pumped and enough tech to keep the trainspotters happy!! Definitely looking forward to future releases from Sinister's new boys.'

Jimmy Mofo - 'Pounding beats, glorious riff action and stuttered vocal edits all embrace in perfect production harmony that collectively make an essential dancefloor purchase. Check this at all costs!'

IDJ Magazine - 'Helical Scan keeps it dark, twisted and very, very dirty, whereas Spectrometer on the B errs on the techier side of things. A strong debut.'

DJ Magazine - 'Big, full tunes for big rooms.'
